I can’t stop thinking about this…
I spent this entire week driving & exploring around New England, and if you’ve been following me for a while, you know Boston has never really been one of my favorite cities.
Well… I was wrong.
This trip completely changed my mind.
What surprised me the most wasn’t even Boston itself. It was all the little towns around it. The beaches were gorgeous. Every town had its own personality. It was clean, peaceful, easy to explore, and honestly just so much prettier than I expected.
But there was one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about.
One thing that always surprises me about America is this…
No matter how small the town is, I can usually find Chinese food. Of course there’s pizza. Usually an Italian restaurant. Sometimes Greek or Mediterranean food too.
But once you get outside the bigger cities, Indian food almost disappears.
Which is crazy to me.
Because every time I talk to Americans, they’re always telling me, “I love Indian food,” or “I tried it once and it was amazing.”
So where are all the restaurants?
It genuinely makes me wonder if there’s demand that’s just waiting to be met, or if Indian food in America is simply a generation behind Chinese food in terms of becoming part of everyday life.
When I visit Britain, there are Indian restaurants everywhere. Tiny towns, neighborhoods, little corner takeaways. It’s just part of everyday life.
America feels different.
And I can’t help but wonder if that’ll change over the next 20 years.
I’d actually love to hear what y’all think.
If you live in a smaller town, would you eat Indian food regularly if there was a great restaurant nearby? Or do you think the demand just isn’t there yet?
Either way, New England completely won me over.
Now I’m off to explore New York City and New Jersey this weekend.
